A personal look at what mattered most to me - and why it changed the direction of my work forever
Welcome to my world of Wise eDynasties – where online businesses are built with more clarity, stronger structure, and long-term purpose.
If you have ever felt that building an online business looks exciting from a distance but overwhelming up close, you are not alone.
For many people, the idea itself is not the problem. They may already have a beautiful vision, a meaningful offer, strong work ethic, and real expertise. The problem is everything standing between the idea and a business that can actually sell, market, and grow online.
That is the gap I want to talk about today.
The moment I knew something had to change 🇳🇱
If we have not met yet, I am Angela van Hoeven, Founder and CEO of The Wise Boutique and The Wise Women Network.
Before building my own business, I spent years traveling internationally and advising major corporations on business systems and processes. I understood business. I understood strategy. I understood how organizations work.
But then life changed.
One rainy night in Amsterdam, I was on my way to a formal business dinner when my little girl called me to say that the nanny had left her and her little sister home alone. That year, I had already gone through five nannies. In that moment, something became painfully clear: I needed a different way forward.
I needed to create a life and a livelihood that worked for my family.
I knew a few things for certain:
- I wanted to work for myself
- I wanted to work from home
- I wanted to earn a strong income
- I wanted to do work I truly cared about
- And I needed to begin without an enormous budget
I also knew this: a few people had clearly figured out how to build highly profitable businesses online. But for most people, the path was anything but simple.
So I became determined to understand it.
What the “cliff” really means
In this first Wise eDynasty Session, I describe that early stage like standing in six-inch stilettos on the outer edge of a cliff.
You know the other side exists. You know people have made it across. You know success is possible.
But when you look down, what you see is everything required to actually get there:
- the infrastructure to sell online
- the systems to market effectively
- the tools to manage a real business
- the technical setup
- the right training
- the right strategies
- and the right support
That is the cliff.
It is the space between having a strong business idea and having a business that truly works.
And that is exactly where so many smart, capable, hard-working people get stuck.
Why this matters so much to me
I did not want to stay stuck there myself. And I did not want my daughters – or other women building meaningful businesses – to have to face the same confusion, cost, and unnecessary obstacles without a better path.
So I went to work.
I researched. I tested. I invested. I learned from experts. I paid attention to what actually helps a business become profitable online – not just what sounds exciting, not just what is trendy, and not just what looks good on the surface.
Over time, I built a wiser framework for what people really need in order to launch, market, manage, and grow online with more confidence.
That work eventually became part of what I now share through my Wise eDynasty resources.
