HOW TO CHOOSE WHAT TO SELL ONLINE: MAKE YOUR BUSINESS DECISION WISELY!
WISELY SHARE…
Discover how to recognize promising business opportunities, choose products or services your customers will value + begin building a business that supports the future you envision.
🦋 From Wonderful Possibilities to Wise Opportunities
Well, my wise friend, isn’t it exciting to think about all the wonderful things you could create, share + sell online?
Perhaps you have a special talent you’d love to turn into a business.
Maybe you’ve discovered a product you believe people would absolutely love, or you have knowledge + experience that could become a valuable service.
Or perhaps you already own a business and are dreaming about what you could introduce, improve or grow next.
There are so many possibilities!
And that’s precisely what makes this part of your Wise Journey so exciting.
But with so many opportunities before you, how do you decide which ones deserve your attention?
How do you choose what to sell online – and recognize an idea that could become a wonderful business opportunity?
Well, here’s something I’ve learned through years of working with, developing + evaluating businesses:
The most promising opportunities aren’t always the most obvious ones.
Sometimes, the greatest potential is hidden in a simple idea that serves a particular group of customers exceptionally well.
Sometimes, it’s found in presenting a familiar product in a more thoughtful way.
And sometimes, especially when you already own a business, it’s waiting to be discovered in something you’re already doing!
You see, I love looking beyond what a business sells to discover what makes it valuable, how it works + what it could become.
And today, I’d love to share some of that perspective with you.
Because you have wonderful possibilities.
Let’s explore how to recognize the ones worth pursuing – and begin shaping them into something truly valuable. 🦋
✨ What Makes an Online Business Idea Worth Pursuing?
Here’s something I’d love you to remember as you explore your ideas.
You don’t have to invent something completely new to create a wonderful business.
Think about the products + services people enjoy purchasing every day.
Beautiful clothing. Thoughtful gifts. Specialty foods. Digital resources. Classes. Professional services. Handmade creations. Personalized experiences.
Many of these have existed for years.
Yet new businesses continue to find opportunities within these familiar markets.
Why?
Because different customers value different things.
One customer may appreciate exceptional quality. Another may love convenience, personal attention or a beautifully curated collection.
Someone else may be looking for specialized expertise, a particular style or a solution that feels as though it was created just for them.
And that opens up all sorts of possibilities!
A promising business opportunity brings together three important things:
- 💛 Something customers genuinely want + value.
- 💰 Something that can make good business sense.
- 🌷 Something that supports the future you want to create.
When these three considerations come together, you begin to see more than an exciting idea.
You begin to recognize the potential for a business worth building – or an opportunity worth developing within the business you already own.
So, let’s explore each one.
💛 1. Discover What People Would Love + Value
One of the most exciting parts of evaluating a business opportunity is discovering what people truly value.
And I don’t mean simply asking whether they like your idea.
I mean understanding what would make them want to purchase it.
You see, customers don’t just buy products or services.
They buy what those products or services make possible for them.
Someone choosing a beautiful piece of jewelry may be celebrating a special moment, expressing their personality or giving someone a meaningful gift.
A person purchasing a digital planning resource may be looking forward to feeling more organized, confident + in control of their time.
And someone hiring a consultant may be investing in expertise that helps them achieve something important more effectively.
The product or service is what you offer. The value it creates is why someone may want it.
And once you begin looking at opportunities this way, all sorts of interesting possibilities emerge.
Imagine you love creating beautiful gift collections.
You could begin by offering a selection of individual products.
But as you learn more about your customers, you might discover that many are looking for thoughtful gifts for particular occasions.
Suddenly, you begin seeing additional opportunities.
Perhaps you could create beautifully curated gift collections for birthdays, celebrations or special milestones.
Maybe customers would appreciate personalized messages, elegant presentation or the convenience of having everything thoughtfully selected for them.
You’re not necessarily inventing an entirely new category of products.
You’re discovering how to make something people already want even more valuable.
And that is a wonderful business skill to develop!
🔎 Where Might You Discover Opportunities?
I’d encourage you to become curious about the people you’d love to serve.
Notice what they’re already purchasing.
Listen to the questions they ask.
Pay attention to what delights them – and what they wish were easier, better or more convenient.
Explore the businesses they already love. What makes those experiences appealing? And where might you bring your own creativity, knowledge or thoughtful approach?
If you already own a business, you have another particularly valuable place to begin.
Your existing customers!
What do they purchase most often? Which products or services receive especially enthusiastic responses? What additional needs could you serve?
You might discover an opportunity to introduce something complementary, improve an existing offer or make the value of what you already sell much more visible.
And please don’t be discouraged if other businesses offer something similar.
Competition can also provide useful insight into what customers are already interested in purchasing.
You don’t necessarily need to be the only business offering something.
You need to give the right customers a meaningful reason to choose YOU.
Your expertise, creativity, quality, presentation, convenience + customer experience can all contribute to that reason.
The important thing is to understand which of those qualities your customers genuinely value.
Because when you discover what matters to them, you begin discovering how to create an offer they’ll be excited to choose.
💰 2. Discover How to Make Your Opportunity Work Beautifully
Now, here’s a part of business evaluation that I find particularly interesting.
Once you recognize something customers would value, you can begin exploring how to turn that value into a successful business opportunity.
And this is where thoughtful business decisions can make an enormous difference.
Imagine you’ve discovered a product that would be a lovely addition to your online boutique.
You might explore different suppliers, materials, presentation options + ways to deliver it.
Perhaps you discover that a carefully selected supplier can provide the quality you want at a favorable price.
Maybe a thoughtfully designed collection allows you to offer customers something more appealing than selling the individual items separately.
Or perhaps you recognize that improving your product presentation + marketing could help more customers appreciate the value you’re already offering.
Each of these possibilities can influence the success of your business.
And that’s why understanding your numbers is so valuable.
Not because business ownership should feel like one long financial calculation!
But because the better you understand how your business earns money, the more opportunities you have to make it work beautifully.
✨ Think Beyond the Selling Price
When you’re evaluating an offer, there are a few things worth understanding.
What might customers be willing to pay for the value you’re creating?
What will it cost to create or source your product—or prepare + provide your service?
What resources will you need to market, sell + deliver it?
And what could remain to contribute toward the expenses + profits of your business?
You don’t need every answer immediately.
You can begin with thoughtful estimates, learn more as you explore + improve your approach as you discover new possibilities.
And if you already own a business, you can use this same thinking to explore which products or services contribute most meaningfully to its success.
Perhaps one offer deserves greater attention.
Another could benefit from improved pricing, presentation or delivery.
And a third might become more valuable when thoughtfully combined with something your customers already love.
Sometimes, growing a business begins with recognizing how to make something you’re already doing even better.
⚙️ And What Happens When Customers Begin Buying?
This is another opportunity to think creatively.
How could you make purchasing from your business a lovely, convenient + reliable experience?
Could you organize your products or services in a way that makes choosing easier?
Could thoughtfully designed processes help you manage orders, appointments or customer questions more efficiently?
Might automation help you deliver digital products, communicate with customers or manage parts of your business without requiring your constant attention?
These aren’t simply operational details.
They’re opportunities to create a business that serves customers beautifully while making your own work more enjoyable + efficient.
And as your business grows, those thoughtful decisions can become increasingly valuable.
A handmade-product business may eventually develop more efficient production + fulfillment processes.
A consultant might create clearly defined service packages that make it easier for customers to choose the help they need.
And someone sharing specialized knowledge might discover that a recorded class or digital resource allows them to serve customers beyond their available appointment hours.
Different opportunities will call for different approaches.
The exciting part is discovering what makes sense for yours.
Because a wonderful business isn’t simply one that attracts customers.
It’s one that’s thoughtfully designed to create value, earn profits + deliver a customer experience worth returning for.
🌷 3. Choose an Opportunity That Supports YOUR Dreams
Now, my wise friend, I’d love you to think about something especially important.
What would you love your business to make possible for you?
Perhaps you’re dreaming of creating an additional source of income.
Maybe you’d love to turn a lifelong passion into something profitable.
You might want greater flexibility, more independence or the freedom to work from different places.
Or perhaps your ambition is to develop an established business into something considerably larger.
There isn’t one correct answer.
And that’s one of the wonderful things about entrepreneurship.
You get to consider what success means to YOU.
But here’s why that matters when choosing what to sell.
Two opportunities may both have excellent potential, yet ask very different things of the person running the business.
Perhaps you love creating handmade products + find enormous satisfaction in every detail.
Someone else might prefer developing digital resources that customers can purchase whenever they wish.
And another person may find their greatest fulfillment in sharing their expertise directly through consultations, classes or professional services.
Each could become a successful business.
But the work involved – and the experience of owning that business – could be quite different.
So, as you explore your ideas, I’d love you to consider not only what you could sell, but also how you’d enjoy spending your days.
Would you love to work directly with customers?
Would you prefer creating products + developing collections?
Are you excited by the possibility of building processes that allow parts of your business to operate without your constant involvement?
And how might your preferences change as your business grows?
Your answers don’t have to be permanent.
Your ambitions, circumstances + opportunities will naturally evolve.
But they can help you recognize something very valuable right now.
The wisest business opportunity isn't simply one that could succeed.
It's one whose success helps you create the future you truly want.
And that’s a beautiful reason to choose thoughtfully.

So, choose a product, service or existing offer you’d love to explore, and let these six wise considerations help you discover what it could become.

Angela's Wise Perspective - Sometimes, Your Wisest Opportunity Is Already Within Reach
There’s one more piece of business wisdom I’d love to share with you.
Not every wonderful opportunity deserves to become your next project.
Now, that may sound surprising after all our excitement about discovering possibilities!
But let me explain.
One of the things I’ve learned through years of evaluating businesses is that recognizing a promising opportunity is only part of making a wise business decision.
The other part is deciding where your valuable resources can create the greatest value.
Your time, money, attention + energy can all contribute to building something wonderful.
But you also get to choose where to invest them.
And sometimes, that choice reveals an opportunity you might otherwise have overlooked.
Imagine you own an online boutique and you’re excited about introducing a beautiful new product collection.
It could be a wonderful addition!
But before you begin, you take another look at the products you’re already selling.
Perhaps you discover that one of your most popular products could reach many more customers with improved presentation, more effective marketing or a thoughtfully designed complementary offer.
Now you have two exciting possibilities.
You could develop something new.
Or you could help something already successful become even more successful.
Which opportunity could create greater value for your customers + your business?
That’s a question worth exploring.
In business, we call the value of the next-best alternative we give up when making a choice opportunity cost.
And understanding this concept can be wonderfully empowering.
It reminds us that making a wise decision isn’t simply about recognizing whether an idea is good.
It’s about recognizing which good idea deserves our attention most.
This applies when you’re beginning a business, too.
Perhaps you have several ideas you absolutely love.
One may be especially well suited to your current resources, experience + customers.
The others may still be wonderful opportunities for another day.
You don’t have to abandon them.
You can choose where to begin.
You don't have to pursue every wonderful opportunity.
Sometimes, the wisest decision is recognizing which one deserves your resources most.
And here’s what I particularly love about that perspective.
It allows you to be both ambitious + thoughtful.
You can dream about everything your business might become while making wise decisions about what deserves your attention today.
Because building something successful isn’t about doing everything at once.
It’s about recognizing opportunities, making thoughtful choices + allowing those choices to build upon one another.
