CHAPTER 16 · PART 2 OF 2

How to Help Customers Find Your Online Business: Get Discovered Through Search!

WISELY SHARE…

Discover how thoughtful words, helpful descriptions + simple search strategies can make your wonderful products, services and online business easier for the right people to find, explore + LOVE!

💛 What If Someone Is Already Searching for What YOU Offer?

Hello, my wise friend!

Imagine someone sitting down with a cup of coffee, opening their phone + searching for something they’d absolutely LOVE to find.

Perhaps they’re looking for a thoughtful anniversary gift.

A helpful resource to make their busy life a little easier.

Or a wonderful service that could help them accomplish something important.

They type a few words into a search engine, hoping to discover just the right thing.

And somewhere out there, YOU may already have exactly what they’re looking for!

What a wonderful possibility!

But here’s something worth considering.

If someone doesn’t know your business exists, how will they know where to find you?

In Chapter 15, we explored how attracting customers begins with helping the right people discover your business + creating meaningful connections that can lead to opportunities for growth.

Now we’re going to explore one particularly valuable part of that journey:

Helping people find your business when they’re actively searching for something relevant to what you offer!

Someone may already be looking for exactly what you've created.

The opportunity is to help them discover that YOUR business could be the answer!

And here’s the encouraging part.

You don’t need to become a technical expert to begin making your business easier to discover.

You can start with something surprisingly familiar.

Understanding your customers + choosing words that help them recognize what you’ve created for THEM!

And by the time we’ve finished, you’ll know how to look at one of your own products or services through your customers’ eyes – and discover a few thoughtful ways to make it easier to find.

Let’s explore how!

🔎 Discover How People Search for What They LOVE!

Have you ever searched online for something you wanted to purchase, learn or experience?

Of course!

Perhaps you knew exactly what you wanted.

Or maybe you weren’t quite sure – and needed a little inspiration.

You might have searched for:

  • “Personalized anniversary gifts for my husband.”
  • “Online yoga classes for beginners.”
  • “Printable weekly planner for busy moms.”

Notice something interesting?

These searches reveal more than product names.

They give us clues about what someone wants, who it’s for + what they’re hoping to accomplish.

And those clues can be wonderfully useful when you’re creating or perfecting your own online business!

💛 Think Like Your Customer, Not Just Your Business!

Imagine you create beautiful handmade wooden keepsake boxes.

You might describe your product as:

“Handcrafted Engraved Wooden Box.”

And that’s a perfectly reasonable description of what you’ve created.

But someone looking for a meaningful gift might search for:

“Personalized memory box for wedding keepsakes.”

Or:

“Special gift for first wedding anniversary.”

Both searches could be relevant to your offer, even though the customer uses different words.

And that’s where an exciting opportunity begins.

Your customers may describe what they’re looking for differently from the way YOU describe what you sell!

The more thoughtfully you understand their language, the easier it becomes to create pages + descriptions that speak to what matters to them.

🌷 A Little Wise Search Discovery Exercise

Think about ONE of your own products or services.

Now imagine three different people who might appreciate it.

What might each person type into a search engine?

For example, someone offering online nutrition coaching might discover that potential customers search for:

  • Online nutrition coaching for beginners.
  • Help planning healthy family meals.
  • Personalized nutrition guidance for busy professionals.

These searches aren’t identical.

And they may reflect different needs, interests + stages of decision-making.

Now, here’s a wonderful next step!

Try searching for a few of the phrases you’ve imagined.

Notice what appears.

Are the results similar to what you offer?

What words do other businesses use to describe their products or services?

What questions are people asking?

And would someone using those search words be delighted to discover YOUR offer?

If your website is already receiving visitors through search, you may also be able to explore the actual search queries helping people discover it. A free tool called Google Search Console can provide useful information about your website’s visibility in Google Search.

You don’t need to investigate every possible phrase.

Begin by looking for the words + ideas that most accurately describe your offer and connect with the customers you’d genuinely LOVE to serve.

Wise little thought: The words your customers use can help you understand not only WHAT they’re looking for – but WHY it matters to them!

🦋 Understand How Search Can Help Customers Discover YOU!

Let’s make search discoverability a little less mysterious.

When someone searches online, a search engine attempts to identify information, products, services + websites that are relevant and useful to their request.

Search engines use many different signals to decide which results to show.

And increasingly, people may also discover businesses through AI-powered search experiences that summarize information or recommend relevant resources.

You don’t control exactly when or where your business appears.

But you CAN make thoughtful decisions that help search systems understand what your pages contain – and help customers recognize their relevance when they discover them.

This is where Search Engine Optimization, commonly called SEO, comes into the picture.

And despite how technical that name may sound, an important part of SEO begins with a simple idea:

Make your business understandable, relevant + genuinely helpful to the people you’d LOVE to reach!

That means thinking about the words you use, the information you provide + how clearly your website communicates what you offer.

Let’s explore six practical opportunities to begin!

✨ Six Wise Ways to Make Your Online Business Easier to Find!

See how these six wise opportunities work together?

From the words you choose to the content you share, each can help the RIGHT people discover, understand + explore what you’ve created.

And you don’t have to perfect all six at once!

Let’s explore them one by one, with simple examples you can put to work in your own wonderful business!

01. 🔎 Choose Words That Help the Right People Find You!

You may have heard people talking about keywords.

Keywords are words or phrases people use when searching for information, products or services.

For example:

  • Personalized birthday gifts.
  • Online business coaching.
  • Handmade natural soap.
  • Digital budget planner.
  • Virtual interior design consultation.

These phrases can help you understand how potential customers describe what they’re looking for.

But here’s something important:

Choosing keywords isn’t about repeating the same phrase as many times as possible!

It’s about identifying language that accurately represents your offer + helps the right people understand its relevance.

💛 Begin With One Meaningful Search Phrase

Let’s imagine you offer a printable weekly planner designed for busy families.

You might identify:

Main search phrase: Printable family weekly planner.

Then consider related phrases that naturally describe your offer:

  • Family schedule organizer.
  • Weekly meal + activity planner.
  • Printable planner for busy parents.

You can use relevant wording in your page title, product description, headings + other helpful content.

But only where it makes sense.

Your goal is to create a clear, enjoyable experience for real people – not a page filled with awkward repetitions.

And remember, the most popular phrase isn’t necessarily the best phrase for your business.

A more specific search can sometimes reflect a closer match between what someone wants and what you actually offer.

The wisest search phrase is one that genuinely connects your customer’s needs with your wonderful offer!

👟 Wise Pro Move – Already Have an Online Business?

Here’s an opportunity especially worth exploring if you’ve already launched!

Choose ONE important product or service page and review the searches that may already be bringing people to your website.

Are those searches relevant to what you offer?

Does the page clearly answer what those visitors are looking for?

And could a more descriptive title, a helpful detail or a clearer next step make their experience even better?

Sometimes, improving a page that’s already being discovered is a wiser place to begin than creating something entirely new!

02. ✍🏻 Make Your Product + Service Titles Meaningful!

Here’s a simple opportunity that many business owners overlook.

The name you give your product or service can help people understand what it is before they even begin reading the description.

Imagine these two product titles:

BEFORE: The Beautiful Memories Collection – Box No. 3

AFTER: Personalized Wooden Memory Box for Wedding Keepsakes

The first title may be meaningful to the business owner.

The second helps a potential customer immediately understand what the product is + why it might be relevant. And you can still retain your lovely collection name!

For example:

Personalized Wooden Memory Box for Wedding Keepsakes | Beautiful Memories Collection

Now your title communicates both the product’s purpose + a little of your brand’s personality.

Wonderful!

💛 What About Services?

The same principle applies.

Instead of:

“The Fresh Start Experience”

You might choose:

“Online Home Organization Consultation | The Fresh Start Experience”

The descriptive words help visitors understand the service.

The distinctive name gives it personality.

And together, they create a more informative introduction to your offer.

Of course, the wording should always accurately reflect what you’re selling.

A clear title won’t guarantee that a page appears prominently in search results, but it can make your offer easier for people + search systems to understand.

Wise little thought: Your offer can have a beautiful name AND a wonderfully clear description of what it actually is!

03. 📝 Create Descriptions That Help Customers Recognize What They'll LOVE!

Once someone discovers a product or service, they’ll naturally want to learn more.

And this is where your descriptions become especially valuable.

In Chapter 14, we explored how thoughtful descriptions help customers understand your offers + feel confident choosing them.

Now let’s consider another benefit.

Clear, informative descriptions can also help search systems understand what your pages are about!

Imagine you’ve created a personalized wooden memory box.

A description that simply says:

“Beautiful handmade box. Perfect for gifts. Available now.”

Doesn’t tell customers very much.

Instead, imagine something like this:

✨ A More Helpful Product Description

A Personalized Wooden Memory Box for Treasured Wedding Keepsakes

Give those wonderful wedding memories a special place to call home!

This handcrafted wooden keepsake box can be personalized with names, a meaningful date or a special message. Designed to hold treasured photographs, little mementos + reminders of a beautiful celebration, it’s a thoughtful gift for newlyweds, anniversaries or couples who love preserving meaningful memories.

Then continue with the practical details customers need:

  • Available dimensions + materials.
  • Personalization choices.
  • Ordering instructions.
  • Production + delivery information.
  • Any other details relevant to the product.

Notice what we’ve accomplished.

The description naturally communicates what the product is, who might appreciate it + what makes it special.

It also gives search systems more useful context about the page.

And most importantly, it helps customers imagine why they might LOVE what you’ve created!

🌱 Don’t Forget Your Page’s Search Preview!

You may also have opportunities to provide an SEO title + meta description for your page.

Your product or service title helps visitors understand your offer on the page.

Your SEO title helps describe that page in search results – and the two can be similar without needing to be identical.

Your meta description provides a short summary of what visitors can expect.

For example:

SEO Title: Personalized Wooden Memory Box for Wedding Keepsakes

Meta Description: Discover a handcrafted personalized wooden memory box for treasured wedding keepsakes. Explore thoughtful personalization options + meaningful gift ideas.

Search engines may choose to display different wording, and a meta description isn’t itself a direct Google ranking factor.

But a clear, relevant description can help interested people recognize why your page may be worth visiting.

Think of your search preview as another opportunity to make a helpful first impression!

04. 🩻 Help Search Systems Understand Your Images!

Here’s something especially important for online boutiques.

Your photographs and visuals can help customers fall in LOVE with what you offer!

But images can also benefit from thoughtful descriptions.

One useful element is called alternative text, or alt text.

Alt text primarily helps people using screen readers understand meaningful images. It can also provide search engines with useful information about an image.

Imagine you have a photograph showing your personalized wooden memory box.

Instead of leaving the image without a useful description, you might provide alt text such as:

“Personalized oak wooden memory box engraved with a couple’s names and wedding date.”

That description communicates what the image actually shows. And that’s exactly what good alt text should do!

💛 A Few Wise Image Considerations

  • Choose photographs that accurately represent your offers.
  • Use descriptive alt text for meaningful images.
  • Give image files helpful names rather than leaving generic names such as IMG_4827.
  • Make sure important images display clearly on phones as well as computers.
  • Consider image file sizes so your pages remain pleasant to load + explore.

One little distinction worth remembering:

An image’s filename and its alt text are two different things.

A filename helps identify the image file.

Alt text describes the image for people who may not be able to see it.

And if an image is purely decorative, it may not need a spoken description at all.

You don’t need to turn every image into a technical SEO project.

Simply create an experience that is useful, accessible + enjoyable.

Beautiful images help customers imagine your offers. Thoughtful descriptions help make those images more understandable!

05. 🔗 Make Your Business Easy to Understand + Explore!

Now let’s think beyond individual products or services.

Imagine someone discovers your business through a search result.

They click through to your website.

Wonderful!

But can they quickly understand where they’ve arrived?

Can they recognize what you offer?

Can they find the information that matters to them?

And can they comfortably explore further?

Search discoverability and customer experience work together.

A clearly organized website, meaningful page headings, helpful navigation + relevant links between your pages can make your business easier to understand.

For example, a boutique selling personalized gifts might have thoughtfully organized pages for:

Birthday Gifts · Wedding Gifts · Anniversary Gifts · Personalized Keepsakes

A visitor looking for a wedding gift can explore the relevant collection without searching through everything else.

And search systems may also find it easier to understand how those pages relate to one another.

💛 Remember the Little Technical Foundations

There are also a few practical things worth checking:

  • Is your website accessible to search engines, rather than unintentionally blocked from indexing?
  • Do your important pages work properly on mobile devices?
  • Do your links lead to the correct destinations?
  • Does each important page clearly explain its purpose?
  • Can visitors find accurate business + contact information where relevant?

And if you serve customers in a particular geographic area, accurate local business information + an eligible Google Business Profile may also support local discoverability.

You don’t need to solve every technical detail yourself.

But it’s useful to know that a wonderfully written page still needs to be accessible, functional + understandable.

And remember, being eligible to appear in search results doesn’t guarantee that a page will be indexed, ranked highly or displayed for every relevant search.

Search discoverability is something you can thoughtfully improve + continue learning from over time.

06. 💬 Let Helpful Content Create More Opportunities to Be Found!

And here’s where things become especially exciting.

Your products and services aren’t the only things people might discover through search!

Someone may find your business because you’ve answered a question they were wondering about.

Perhaps you sell handmade candles.

You might create a helpful article about choosing candle fragrances for different rooms.

Or perhaps you offer online organization services.

You might share a few thoughtful ideas for organizing a busy family schedule.

And if you sell personalized gifts?

You could publish an inspiring guide to choosing meaningful anniversary presents.

Each piece of useful content creates another opportunity for interested people to discover your knowledge, ideas + business.

But remember something we explored in Chapter 15:

A helpful discovery becomes even more valuable when interested people can naturally continue toward a relevant offer!

Your candle article might introduce readers to a related collection.

Your organizing advice might connect to a consultation.

Your anniversary-gift guide might help visitors explore personalized keepsakes.

No pressure.

No unnecessary selling.

Just a thoughtful connection between something useful you’ve shared + something wonderful you offer.

And here’s another little opportunity for businesses that already have helpful content published.

You may discover that an existing article could become more useful with an updated example, a clearer explanation or a relevant link to one of your offers.

You don’t always need to create something new.

Sometimes, perfecting something you’ve already created can open the door to wonderful new opportunities!

The words you choose can help people FIND your business.

The value you share can give them a wonderful reason to EXPLORE it!

Wonderful!

And perhaps you’ll recognize a few opportunities to help the right people discover it more easily.

Maybe a product title could become more descriptive.

Perhaps a service page could answer an important customer question.

Or you might realize that a helpful article you’ve already created could introduce readers to an offer they’d genuinely appreciate.

You don’t need to improve every page today.

Start with one meaningful opportunity.

And if you’ve already made a change, give it a little time + observe what happens.

Where search-performance information is available, you can begin noticing whether your pages appear for relevant searches + whether interested people are visiting.

You may not see immediate results, and search visibility can change for many reasons.

🦋 Your Next Wise Steps, Made Simpler!

Angela's Wise Perspective

There’s something I’ve learned through years of working with businesses, including some of the world’s largest organizations.

An important question isn’t simply whether an activity is working.

It’s how that activity contributes to the business as a whole.

And I believe the same principle matters enormously when you’re building an online business of your own.

Being discoverable is important.

But being discovered by people who genuinely appreciate what you offer – and helping them take a meaningful next step – is where wonderful business opportunities can begin.

That’s why I believe thoughtful search strategies should start with understanding your customers, rather than chasing search rankings for their own sake.

💛 Create a Business That Works Beautifully for Your Customers + YOU

Now, imagine what becomes possible when your online boutique is thoughtfully organized, your offers are clearly described + your helpful content is available for interested people to discover.

Someone might find one of your products while you’re creating your next wonderful offer.

Another person could discover a helpful article while you’re enjoying time with your family.

Or someone might come across your service while you’re traveling, relaxing or simply doing something else you LOVE.

And your business can be there, ready to introduce them to what you’ve created!

Of course, discoverability requires ongoing attention.

Search systems change, competitors improve their websites + customer interests evolve.

And no business owner can guarantee exactly how search results will appear.

But thoughtfully created pages + helpful content can continue creating opportunities beyond the moment you publish them.

That’s one of the reasons I believe digital marketing should be approached as part of building a connected business – not simply another collection of tasks to complete.

Your words help people discover your offers.

Your descriptions help them understand their value.

Your online boutique helps them explore + choose.

And your thoughtful business systems help you manage what happens next.

When those pieces work together, your marketing can become part of the business you’re building – not simply another demand on your time!

And that, my wise friend, is a wonderful way to think about building your very own Wise eDynasty. 🦋

💫👟 Your Next Wise Step

Now, my wise friend, here’s a little challenge I’d LOVE you to try!

Choose ONE product or service you’d be delighted to help more people discover.

Then imagine someone searching for it online.

What might they type?

Perhaps a product name, a particular need or the occasion they’re shopping for.

Now take a look at the title + opening description of your offer.

Would someone using those search words immediately recognize that they’ve found something relevant?

If not, see whether you can make one thoughtful improvement.

Perhaps you’ll add a more descriptive phrase to your title.

Clarify an important benefit.

Or include a detail that helps customers recognize exactly what makes your offer special.

Keep your original wording beside your improved version.

Notice how a few thoughtful changes can make your offer clearer, more relevant + easier for the right customer to recognize.

And if your offer isn’t published yet?

Wonderful!

You can practice creating a clear, meaningful title + description before you launch.

Your goal today isn’t to perfect an entire website. It’s to make ONE wonderful offer a little easier for the RIGHT person to discover!

Because your next customer may be searching for something you’ve already created.

And a few wise words could help them recognize that they’ve found it – at YOUR business! 🦋
